Eraserhead

Eraserhead originally a 21-page script was written and directed by David Lynch and released in 1977. With a $10,000 grant from the AFI Lynch began working on his film in 1971. However, $10,000 wasn't enough for Lynch to develop this feature length film. Lynch turned to family and friends for money to finish the production. It wasn't until 1977Eraserhead was released and became a cult classic.

This disturbing film, which Lynch still has yet to explain became recognized by the United States Library of Congress as a "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" film in 2004 and is now preserved in the National Film Registry.

Interesting Fact: -"The mutant baby was apparently created from the embalmed fetus of a calf. After completing the film, Lynch reportedly buried the "Embalmed Calf" in an undisclosed location."
